My Story…
Bryden was a happy, talkative little boy until his life suddenly changed at just two and a half years old. That’s when his seizures began. At first, he only had a couple each day, and medication seemed to help. But before long, the seizures became more frequent eventually climbing to over 100 a day leading to endless months in the hospital.
The seizures took a huge toll. Bryden went from being a loving, outgoing child to becoming nonverbal, and life was never the same. His journey involved countless trips to doctors and trying hundreds of different medications before things started to stabilize enough for him to have something close to a “normal” life.
Over the years, Bryden has experienced several different types of seizures. In the beginning, he had generalized seizures, where he would suddenly collapse and convulse. Later, he developed drop seizures, where he wouldn’t lose consciousness but would suddenly fall to the ground without warning. Because these happened so often, he had to wear a helmet for protection. Even then, he frequently injured himself black eyes, deep cuts, and even needing stitches from dangerous falls. Many of these difficult moments happened during birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions, making them especially hard for him and his family.
Today, Bryden is now 8 years old and is doing much better, though he still lives with seizures and now faces a learning disability as well. His strength, resilience, and bravery through all of this have been inspiring, and his story is a powerful reminder of how much children like him endure every single day.
