Rally Start Time: First cars hit the road at 9:00 AM from Conestoga College Kitchener (Doon Campus).
To keep things moving smoothly, each team will get a scheduled departure time, with cars leaving every 3–4 minutes.
Check-In:
Arrive early to check in, grab your Rally Kit (packed with goodies and tools), get your car decal, and fuel up with some coffee and snacks before you roll out!
How the Rally Works
The Rally is split into three legs, each ending at a surprise location. How long it takes? That depends on your team’s navigation skills, sharp eyes, and clever strategy.
It’s not a race—arriving too early or too late will cost you points.
You’ll follow clues, spot quirky landmarks, signs, and natural features.
Some clues may even get you out of the car (safely!) to hunt for answers.
Points are earned by solving clues correctly—but take too long and you’ll lose them. It’s all about balancing speed, smarts, and teamwork.
Examples:
Clue | Answer | What you will see on route |
Hot Dog | Chien Chaud | ![]() |
A buck's favourite dessert | The Tartlet | ![]() |
Pocahontas's Pal Percy's Demise? | Pugs End | ![]() |
Generally speaking, plan to spend a wonderful day, touring scenic roads you may not have travelled before. Some of you will breeze through the Rally; others may track their GPS later that day and find it looks like a Jackson Pollock painting. Enjoy the day and know that your fundraising efforts are making a difference in the lives of families with medically complex children.
Your instructions will be given in both direction and distance variants. Below are various examples of each that you could (but not necessarily will) be given at the event.
Direction Variants
- Plain text – Written directions in the form of left, right, straight
- Pictorial – Images representing left, right, straight
- Cardinal – Written directions in the form of east, west, north south in which you will need to turn in the specified direction
- Interpreted– Shapes or pictures representing each turn. Below is an exampleand not a reflecton of what will actually be utilized this year.
- Triangle = Right
- Square = Straight
- Circle = Left
Distance Variants
- Odometer Reset – Each instruction has an explicit distance independent of the instruction before it. For example, instructions 1, 2, and 3 may have 2.4km, 1.1km, and 700m respectively in which you will travel 2.4 kilometers, turn in the direction indicated - reset your odometer, travel 1.1 kilometers - reset your odometer, etc.
- Running Odometer – In this set of instructions, you reset your odometer to zero and you are making your turns based on the distance listed in your instructions. You’ll note that the distances listed are constantly increasing, as it is based on the kilometres travelled. Be aware that if you go off course, or go back to a step, that you note your odometer reading.
