The 5K race starts and finishes at Beacon Hill Middle School (formerly known as Renfroe Middle School) in Decatur. Free parking is available at Decatur High School, a short walk from Beacon Hill, and the parking deck at Agnes Scott College. The course offers participants a tour of two beautiful historic Decatur neighborhoods, MAK (McDonough-Adams-Kings Highway) and Oakhurst and lots of places for spectators to cheer on the runners.
Runners will start in front of Beacon Hill and immediately turn right to head south on Adams Street, then turn right onto Oakview Road for a gentle climb into Oakhurst Village. Next, turn left at Fifth Avenue Upper Elementary School and hit the water stop before turning right on Northern Avenue. Cross 4th Avenue and turn right onto Third Avenue for a fun downhill run. Turn right onto East Lake Drive, then enter the village again and turn left onto Oakview. Take a gentle left onto Ansley Street and turn left on Adams Street for the final 0.1 mile to the finish line in front of Beacon Hill.
The Pup Trot (not quite one mile) begins at 8:30. This is a free race that anyone can do, and it can serve as a warm up for people registered for the 5K. Pup Trotters will start in front of Beacon Hill and turn right on Adams Street. They will turn right onto West Davis Street, then right on Kings Highway, then right into the driveway in front of Beacon Hill to the finish line.
