Volunteer for this event
Volunteer details
What you need to know:
In 2023 we will need 14 volunteers to help make The Chiggy Ultra: Millbrook’s Revenge a success for the runners. We were incredibly grateful for the volunteers we had in 2022. They came back to us with some suggestions and we took those thoughtful ideas and made changes for 2023.
We have 4 areas that need volunteers.
THE START/FINISH:
The start/finish aid station will need 4 volunteers (2 on duty at a time) to manage runners coming in and leaving for their next lap over 30hrs. One volunteer will be a runner handler and they will be incharge of getting the time out and time in for runners documented. The other volunteer will be in charge of the aid station table and making sure the runner’s needs are met.
There are 3 paid shifts $50 per volunteer per shift. These 4 Volunteers will have a bed saved for them at the bunkhouse but they will need to arrange their own ride there and back. They will need to bring their own food, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad.
Noon - 8pm
8pm to 4am
4am to noon.
Volunteers will be responsible for their own food, but we will supply all their cooking needs: propane stove, pot, pan, utensils, dishsoap, dishtowels, small cooler.
THE CABINS:
The 3 cabins (Bunkhouse/Big Bald/Arch Gulch) will be rented for the volunteers from Friday 2pm until Monday 11am. They will be manned by 4 volunteers each, and these volunteers should be committed to staying from Saturday 6am until the last runner passes through the aid station sometime on Sunday. Each volunteer will be paid $100 and will work in shifts of 2 people with the other volunteers.
The cabins will require an SUV or truck to get to. We can drive you into the cabin if needed.
Runners that decide to stop at a cabin will need to wait at that cabin until a Race Official can come and collect them. If it is an emergency, a Race Official will be contacted and arrangements will be made immediately.
The cabins are rustic with bunk beds, a wood stove, and an outhouse. Volunteers at the cabins will need to bring their own sleeping pad, sleeping bag, and portable chargers for their electronics.
Volunteers will be responsible for their own food, but we will supply all their cooking needs: propane stove, pot, pan, utensils, dishsoap, dishtowels, small cooler. Each cabin has a drinkable water supply.
Starting at 6am, 2 volunteers at each cabin will be on “duty”. Schedules will need to be set by the volunteers as fairly as possible.
One volunteer will be a runner handler and they will be incharge of getting the time out and time in for runners documented. The other volunteer will be in charge of the aid station table and making sure the runner’s needs are met.
While not on duty we encourage the volunteers to hike (Cape Chignecto is so beautiful!) or sleep (it is alot of work to have this amount of fun!).
