I am participating in this race to honor the memory of my grandpa and my dad, both of whom I lost to pancreatic cancer. My grandpa passed away when I was in grade 7, marking my first experience with the deep grief cancer can cause. Three years ago, in August, I lost my dad to the same disease.

My dad was not only my father but also my best friend. He was the life of the party—someone who could make anyone laugh and brighten every room he entered. His presence brought me endless joy, and his love continues to guide me every day.

Because I know how much my dad wanted to keep living, I feel driven to do everything in my power to support the search for a cure for this devastating illness. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most difficult cancers to detect and treat, and research is urgently needed to improve outcomes for patients and families.
