RACE SITE: Shell Park, 3307 Lakeshore Rd W, Oakville, ON L6L 6S6
YOUR HELP IS MUCH NEEDED.
Runners often compliment the enthusiastic and helpful volunteers. Thank you for considering giving of your time and energy by volunteering. Races would not be possible without your help.
And what a great way to be part of a race without actually running. You will be able to cheer on the runners or congratulate them and gain experience at the same time. Various positions are available at various times and different locations. A souvenir volunteer T-shirt along with snacks and beverages will be provided. If volunteer credit hours are needed, verification will be granted by the Volunteer Manager.
Once your registration has been received, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Further instructions specific to the position will be sent prior to the race date.
Tap the button below to sign up. Thank you again.
Course Marshals on Race Day - various locations along the 10.5k run course
Course marshals are critical for races - both to keep runners safe, and to make sure they turn at the proper locations. If you can point and cheer - you have what it takes. We will be training you to understand the where and how of doing this role.
Some marshals may be required to interact with drivers to let them know the road is closed - or to guide a driver to a safe exit off the course. Police on point duty will be positioned at key intersections - course marshals will be positioned at quiet side streets so interactions with drivers are limited.
You should be prepared to attend a virtual meeting in advance of race day to understand your role, and to find out where you are positioned on the course.
Pre-Race Packet Pick Up - Saturday, Oct. 4th - Location TBD - Oakville (approx
Runners must pick up their bib in order to participate in the race. As we do not offer race day kit pick up, this day is busy! You would be asked to join us at the location in advance to help set out the materials for the runners, then help to hand things out when the doors open.
After kit pick up, you may be asked to help pack things up. Depending on the location and length of time the kit pick up is open, we may split these volunteer positions into two shifts.
Set Up Finish Area - Sunday, Oct. 5th - 5:30am - 7:00am - Shell Park
Want to get in your early morning workout? Heavy lifters needed to work in the dark to set out medals, finish area food and water. Requires some heavy lifting, ability to get to Shell Park early in the morning and willing to work with a team in the dark. (Bring your own headlamp!)
Stay longer and volunteer to hand out food, medals or drinks if you want to see the runners finish by signing up for other volunteer positions.
Post-Race Food - Sunday, Oct. 5th - 6:00 - 11:30am - Shell Park
Prepare bagels and bananas in the finish chute to hand out to runners after they cross the finish line.
Medals in Finish Chute - Sunday, Oct. 5 - 6:00 - 11:30am - Shell Park
Catch runners as they finish their race and place a medal around their neck! Be ready to congratulate them and possibly support them as they catch their breath. (Medical staff will be in the finish chute to support runners who need further assistance.)
Post-Race Hydration Station in Finish Chute - Sunday, Oct. 5th - 6:00 - 11:30am - Shell Park
Prepare water and Gatorade, fill cups and hand them out to runners after they finish.
Information and Direction Guides - Sunday, Oct. 5th - 5:30am - 11:30am - Shell Park
Runners arriving by bus in the dark will need to know where to go for bag check, washrooms, water fill stations, starting chutes, etc.
Spectators will want to know what time the race starts, where to watch, how to find results, where washrooms are located, etc.
Runners will need direction to find the shuttle bus pick up location when everything looks different in daylight.
Information and Direction Guides are there to answer questions and help everyone find their way.
Green Team - Keeping the Park Clean - Sunday, Oct. 5th - 6:30am - 11:30am - Shell Park
Help us leave the park as we found it by gathering up cups, bottles, t-shirts, cardboard, bags, etc. left behind and disposing of them properly.
Kit PIck Up - Toronto - Oct. 2nd Culture Athletics, Queen St E & Carlaw - 3:30 - 7:30pm

Race Day Floater - Wherever I'm Needed - Sunday, Oct. 5 - 6:00am - 12:00pm Shell Park
Come prepared to jump in and help where we need you!
Race Day Bag Check - Sunday, Oct. 5th - 6:00am - 11:30am
Check in athlete dry clothes bags, keep them organized and find them again when the athlete returns.
Shuttle Bus Management Team - Sunday, Oct. 5th - 5:00am - 11:30am Bronte GO Station + Shell Park
Runners and volunteers must take the shuttle bus to the race site (or be dropped off at the north end of the park). They will need direction to find the bus pick up spot at the Bronte GO Station. When they exit the bus, they will need to know which direction to go in the dark. After the race, they will need to find the shuttle bus boarding location again because it was dark when they arrived. Sometimes the bus drivers need some direction as well!
This is a critical team for moving over 2000 people to the park and out again on race day.
Post-Race Strike Crew - Sunday, Oct. 5th - 10:00am - 1:00pm
After the race is over and everyone leaves...there are many things left to pack up so we leave the park as we found it. We need some muscle to help move barriers, pack up tents, move sandbags, carry equipment, load trucks and etc. Get your lifting workout done while helping out a very tired race crew!
Lead Cyclists (21.1km + 10km + 5km) - Must bring your own bike - Experience Required - Sunday, Oct. 5th - 6:00 - 11:30am
Ride ahead of the lead runner at a safe distance and ensure they follow the turns in the course. These positions require volunteers to become familiar with the course in advance of race day.
You must ride your own bike and have proper lighting and helmet. The course includes some waterfront pathways and short, steep climbs.
Lead cyclists will be on radio to stay in communication with the course crew to advise of the lead runner location, and will be asked to turn back to pick up the next lead runner (female - or maybe male...!)
