OTHER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Are race day entries available?
The will be NO on day entries for the Sprint Triathlon and Junior Duathlon. We may have late and on day entries for the Wharf to Winery subject to numbers. We do however advice entering online before cut off.
What happens if I get into difficulty in the swim?
If you need assistance, put your hand up for one of the water safety personnel to assist. You may rest on their board or boat, as long as they don’t propel you forward on the course. If they need to transport you to ‘safety’ it is at the race director’s discretion as to whether you be allowed to re-enter the race once the final swimmer (of your category) has exited the water.
Are the events timed?
Yes, electronic timing for all events is provided by ‘Fast Finish Timing’, including the swim/bike/run splits for the relevant multi discipline events.
What rules should I be aware of?
Triathlon, duathlon and aquathon events are bound by race competition rules. You can find those here.
What is meant by drafting on the bike?
Drafting is the act of riding behind another cyclist in an area of reduced air pressure, created in the wake of the leading cyclist. In basic terms it takes less energy for the tailing cyclist and they will ride easier and gain extra speed. Drafting in a non-drafting event creates an unfair advantage and is cheating. More information on draft zones will be provided in the event briefing.
What do I do after the race?
Drink water and refuel. Celebrate and tell tales of your achievement! When the last cyclist is back in transition, you’ll be able to collect your bike and gear.
