My Story…
Hi All, thanks for stopping by. This is my first triathlon and I'm excited and nervous. I am in the 45-49 age group and hoping for a top 10 finish in that category.
I chose the Stanley Park Ecological Society for my charity to honour the fact that the race is being hosted largely in X̱wáýx̱way (Stanley Park). There is a complex history to the park that I, as a newcomer, know very little about, but I am trying to learn more. Here is an interesting piece on the recent ecological issues, tree removal and the relationship between the current park stewards and the indigenous xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Skwxwú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ (Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations.
