Help Batur raise money

My mother is my foremost role model and best friend. Her unwavering support pervades every aspect of my life, and I can’t recall an important moment in which she hasn’t been by my side (including my weekly medical school intramural soccer games). To simply say that she is the reason for my successes would underestimate the immeasurable love and guidance she has shared with me.

I still remember the warm spring morning when she told me about her cancer diagnosis. In those first moments, everything around me faded away as my mind flooded with dreadful thoughts about the potential outcomes. The following months were among the most difficult my family has endured - watching our vibrant, lively mother reduced to a shell of her former self. Yet even in her most fragile moments, her courage and grace never wavered. 

Thanks to biomedical research and the power of science, my mother recovered. I am endlessly grateful and deeply aware that not every family is as fortunate. That is why I’m fundraising for the AACR: to help forge a future in which no parent has to face that pain, no child has to feel that fear, and no family has to endure that kind of heartbreak.
