Help Kate raise money

With the milestone of my fifth Philadelphia Marathon approaching, I want to help raise funds for the American Association for Cancer research (AACR) and their mission dedicated to lifesaving cancer research, education, and awareness—a cause that is close to my heart.  

After my dad passed away from Sarcoma in April of 2018, I honored him by signing up for my first marathon. The Philadelphia Marathon sponsored by AACR was the perfect choice.  An avid marathoner, cyclist, triathlete, and Iron Man, my dad did it all—on top of being a father of five kids and a busy Emergency Physician.  Discovering my love of running felt like carrying a piece of him with me. Having devoted himself to healing others and finding community through running, he was my inspiration every step of the way to that Philadelphia Marathon finish line on November 18, 2018.  Since then, I’ve done three more marathons – all Philadelphia’s. 

In honor of marathon #5, I want to give back to this outlet that has been integral to my personal healing, as well as help promote the fight against cancer and all the progress that AACR is making within the field.  All donations go straight to the organization and support their mission of furthering cancer research and preventing and curing cancer.

My dad’s motto was always “Get it done.”  This meant get after what you’re passionate about and do so with a positive attitude and your best effort.  This is my mantra as I tackle another 26.2 and dedicate the run not only to my dad, but also to supporting this important cause and those impacted by cancer.

I’m thankful to be able to share this passion and my dad’s story with my community.  Any amount of support that is given to this cause will be carried with me through every mile with gratitude and will have incredible impacts well beyond the finish line.
