My Story…
I’m running the 2025 AACR Philadelphia Marathon in memory of my grandfather, Ralph Melville, who fought courageously against bladder cancer before he passed away in 2008.
My grandpa’s strength, perseverance, and strong work ethic were among his best qualities. He was also one of the kindest, most caring, and generous people I’ve ever known. I’m running this race as a tribute to him because his influence continues to impact my life to this day.
I’m fortunate to have received a spot on the AACR Runners for Research team for this event. All donations will go directly toward advancing scientific research to prevent, detect, treat, and ultimately cure cancer.
If you choose to donate, I ask that you please highlight someone in your life who has battled or is currently battling this terrible disease. Before race day, I plan to handwrite each of those names on my undershirt, so I can carry them with me every mile of the marathon.
Just as I’ll be running in honor of my grandfather, I’ll also be running for everyone represented on that shirt — every story, every fight, and every life touched by cancer.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for supporting this cause. Your generosity truly makes a difference!
