Welcome to the
36th Rip View Swim Classic
The Rip View Swim Classic is an open water swim event that occurs annually at Point Lonsdale on the tip of the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula, close to Port Phillip Heads and its famous bay entrance ‘The Rip’.
Our swim course, with distance options of 600m, 1.4km and 3.8km, is well protected from the winds and swell that occurs outside The Heads, and we boast beautiful clean and shallow waters, ideal for open water swimming.
Swim groupings are timed to make the most of the ebbing tide so our swimmers can enjoy a nice tow along the course and clock some fast times to add to the bragging rights of completing another great swim.
We pride ourselves in our high ratio of swimmers to safety crew, small age grouping, well-marked course and friendly volunteers. All three distances stay close to the shoreline with buoys on the right of swimmers making pacing and distances easy to judge.
Each year, over 1,000 competitors take part in our swim, including some of the big names in open water swimming, often competitive Ironmen, Ironwomen and Australian representative swimmers.
It is a great day out of fun and fitness on the beach, very family friendly and an easy drive from Melbourne, Geelong or anywhere along the Surf Coast.

The Rip View Classic 1.4km swim - our original and blue ribbon event. Tracing the shoreline of the Point Lonsdale Bight from the "Springs" carpark to the "Swings" in the main street of Point Lonsdale. A favourite event for so many on the open water swim calendar.

3.8km Rip View Swim Challenge

Our RVSC 3.8km challenge event! For the tried and tested open water swimmer and a favourite of our triathlete community. Starting from Santa Casa beach on the outskirts of Queenscliff, tracing the shallow waters and sandy shores of the Queenscliff / Lonsdale spit to the "Springs" carpark (and start of our 1.4km event), then along the Rip View Swim Classic 1.4km course to the finish on the Point Lonsdale front beach. Timed for maximum tide assistance for fast times. A challenge not to be missed! We have a cap on entries for the 3.8km swim so please get your entries in early!

Our shortest event for those new to open water swimming and up for the challenge. A great way to get the kids / teenagers involved in open water swimming or for family members to challenge each other for bragging rights! Our 600m horseshoe shaped course starts from the third "groyne" along the Point Lonsdale front beach, swimming out to the buoys of the 1.4km Rip View Swim Classic and following them to the right through to the finish line at the Point Lonsdale front beach, under the "swings" of the playground. ($30 junior rate for 15 and under - you couldn't get a t-shirt as nice as ours for that price!)
