My Story…
In 2024, I ran my first 10k race in Legs for Literacy. I initially didn't believe I could go the distance, especially not within two months of sign up, but I decided to not be the one to say "no" to myself and try anyway. And now in 2025, I'm saying "yes" to a half-marathon!
Running has taught me that discipline is not a skill you're born with; it's earned very slowly through practice, consistency, and patience. And after a little over a year, I have a newfound confidence in myself and my strength and resilience, both physical and mental.
Last year ended up being a big year for me in many ways as I took a giant leap of faith and changed careers to work in the library and information science field. I have always been a champion for education and literacy and therefore Legs for Literacy’s mission is very dear to me. I hope to keep racing and raising money to support literacy in my community for many years to come. Reading—just like running—is a path to one's own freedom and autonomy.
My goal this year is to run my first half-marathon race and to raise $500!
So please donate to help our community thrive and please always visit and support your local library!!! 📚
