Join us for the inaugural We Out Here Trail Festival
June 7, 2025 at 4:30pm
in beautiful St. Edwards State Park, traditional homelands of the Coast Salish People
(14445 Juanita Dr NE, Kenmore, WA 98028)
This trail race is designed with first timers in mind: if you’ve never run a trail race before but have been itching to try one, this race is for you!
THE VISION
We imagine a world where everyone feels welcome to find joy in the trails – free from fear or intimidation, and surrounded by a supportive community.
THE BACKGROUND
Trail running is experiencing a boom in popularity, but the boom and participation among BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) athletes has not yet reflected this growth, despite the fact that our community represents the future of running. With demographic shifts showing that the future will be increasingly diverse by the year 2050, our goal is to create a space where everyone – especially our growing community – feels empowered to explore trail running.
We Out Here Trail Fest provides an opportunity for runners of all levels, from new athletes to seasoned elites, to compete in a fun, friendly, and welcoming trail event. This event has been thoughtfully designed to reflect the diverse community we envision for the future of the sport, created with US in mind.
While ALL runners are enthusiastically welcomed, we are extending a warm invitation to individuals from underrepresented communities – including Black people, people of color, and people of all races and ethnic identities who have never participated in a trail race before – to join us in making this a truly inclusive event.
THE RACE
The race will be hosted at the beautiful St. Edwards State park along a looped course during the Seattle Running Collective’s Global Running Week, a week that centers BIPOC athletes and their movement organizations.
The looped course will allow participants to enjoy lots of crowd support and keep the races entertaining for spectators. All race participants will receive a medal upon crossing the finish line.
We will offer the following distances:
- 1.9 miles (1 loop)
- 3.8 miles (2 loops)
- 5.7 miles (3 loops)
- 2 hours
(all race distances are approximate)
THE PARTY
The event will feature a DJ set by DJ Blast, food and non alcoholic drinks. The party will offer participants and spectators alike an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the day and make lasting connections.
