Here's an early call for clarity due to the weekend weather forecast.
Obviously the forecast may yet change but so we can order the correct finisher medals and give everyone plenty of notice we will call it this morning.
The YORKE Coastal West 2025 event will go ahead as planned at Mawson Lakes on Sun Feb 2nd, but with the following modifications.
We will start at 6:30am and hope to have the event wrapped up by 8:30am at the latest well before any real heat arrives.
The course has now been modified to just lap the lake. Tere will be plenty of refreshments at the aid station which you will pass every 2.5kms.
The start/finish is on the lawn on the western side of the lake (about 200m back from the usual parkrun finish).
The turn-around point is extended slightly (next to a shelter and water fountain) to give each lap a total of 2.5kms.
The ONLY distances on offer are the 5km, 10km and a 2km HOT LAP with first place trophy on offer.
The event is a RUN TEAL event where everyone is encouraged to wear an item of TEAL to raise awareness for the ACRF and their fight against cancer. We will have 2 x trophies on offer (both male and female) for those who best represent this theme.
For those who have registered for the 15km and 21.1km half marathon, you have the opportunity to run the 5 or 10k, receive a FULL credit, or transfer to another future event of choice. Please let me know today so I can order the correct medals tomorrow.
Schedule for Sunday -
5:45am (approx) - check-in and bib allocation
6:15am - race briefing and group photo
6:30am - 5km start
6:30am - 10km start
8:00am - HOT LAP start
8:30am - event concludes

Really appreciate your support for this special event and hope we can attract good participation so please share. Registration is due to close at noon tomorrow when medals will be ordered and collected. Remember for the first 50 the registration fee is only $15 in total. The HOT LAP will be placed in the registration shortly and hopefully everyone can stay on and encourage those who take on this challenge.

6:15am - Check-in & Bib Allocation Opens (bibs are not mailed out).

6:45am - Race Briefing & Group Photo.

7:00am - All Distances Start.

Event email with all relevant details is sent to all registered runners in the week leading up to race day. Registration closes noon 3 days before each event date (unless extended). If you register during the registration extension if it happens, then you may receive a generic finisher medal in place of the fully engraved event medal. Every runner/walker receives a finisher medal for every distance at every event.

Course for this event will be a 5km loop course around the lake.

Welcome to the 9th running of our YORKE Coastal West event.
Another change of location from the original Port Victoria course on YP. This year sees a shift from the previous 2 years at Grange to Mawson Lakes.
Lap the lake. A change of distances also with a choice of 5km, 10km, 15km and the 21.1km half marathon.
Race Bib & Finisher Medal for all participants included in the registration price with part proceeds to our nominated charities.
5km - $20
10km - $25
15km - $25
21.1km - $30
42.2km - $35
Virtual - $25

All distances start at 7:00am from Mawson Lakes.
More details to follow with exact course etc..


Part proceeds from this event will be directed to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) to help #endcancer

Virtual Run -
Available for all events. Must be run on the actual event day at a convenient time and location of your own choosing. Includes race bib and finisher medal which would require collection when convenient as we do not post items. You will need to record your run on Strava or the like showing "elapsed" or "total" time, not "moving" time. Please send your run link or a screenshot to coastalfunruns to be included in online published results. Enjoy the journey as being Virtual means no cut-off time. All virtual runs regardless of distance at set at a fixed price of $25.00


Self-Supported Run -
Available at selected events. Must be run at the designated event start time and location. All runners of each distance start together at the same time (unless noted otherwise). Race bibs and finisher medals are collected at the race briefing at event location. You will need to record your run on Strava or the like showing "elapsed" or "total" time, not "moving" time. Please send your run link or a screenshot to coastalfunruns to be included in online published results. Self-Supported marathon runs are eligible for inclusion in the AUSNZ 100 Marathon Club. Enjoy the journey as being Self-Supported means no cut-off time. All Self-Supported runs regardless of distance are offered at a reduced rate of $10.00 less than normal pricing
