My Story…
To describe my mother as having a big heart would be an incredible understatement. She was a selfless, warm, and loving soul who brought light to everyone she ever connected with, whether it be a stranger or family member. Her strength manifested in her beautiful smile, tight hugs, and unconditional love. As her daughter, I have always looked up to her as a best friend and model of who I want to be like.
As someone who always put everyone else’s needs above her own, she would go above and beyond to bring happiness and comfort to everyone, especially her loved ones. She persevered through many of her own life challenges in silence, much like many who struggle with mental health. Tragically, she lost her silent battle on March 28th, 2025.
Too many people struggle in silence, and showing up and/or checking in on others is so incredibly important in today’s world. Check up on your loved ones, you never know what someone might be persevering on the inside.
To honor my mom’s memory, along with many other’s, I am participating in the 2025 Run for Life (Hike for Life) to raise funds for mental health awareness and suicide prevention. I am endlessly grateful for the wealth of mindfulness, appreciation, and compassion that my mom raised me to adopt, especially for nature, which is why I will be completing a hike in beautiful British Columbia on her birthday, September 10th.
All proceeds will be going towards the Centre for Suicide Prevention and the Canadian Mental Health Association. If you are unable to donate, a share or two is also deeply appreciated.
