This race, organized by the Wainwright Runners, offers a challenging and refreshing start to your running season. Join us for either a 10km or 5km run, a 5km walk or a 2km kids run!
The route is out and back along a paved multi-use trail (Ascot and Area Recreation Trail RR#70) beside the Bud Cotton Buffalo Paddock. As you can see, the route is rolling terrain and should challenge all running abilities.
Register before Apr 1 and you will be guaranteed a FREE Wainwright Runners TECH SHIRT. Unisex sizes only. As is tradition, the top three finishers in each running category will receive a handmade Bison Run mug.

For the 5km Run we have six categories
- under 20yrs (male and female)
- 20 yrs to 40yrs (male and female)
- Over 40yrs (male and female )
For the 10km Run we have six categories
- Under 35yrs (male and female)
- 35yrs to 49yrs (male and female)
- 50+yrs (male and female)
For the 2km Kids Run we will have four categories
- 3yrs to 7yrs (male and female)
- 8yrs to 12yrs (male and female)
For the 5km Walk we will have two categories
- Open (male and female)

Due to our "Spring" weather, please try and prepare for variable conditions. Dress in thin layers but several of them to stay somewhat dry and warm! You might want to bring some warm clothes to change in to after the race.
Strollers are allowed.
Personal music is also allowed, but please be considerate of your fellow runners.
Dogs are also permitted if they remain leashed and are in the company of their owners at all times. Please also pick up after your dog.
Enhance your Bison Run experience with a 12 WEEK to 5K TRAING PROGRAM courtesy of the Intuitive Runner. It includes a full training program that focuses on gradual progression and includes cutback weeks to set you up for success. It also includes some baseline information, some free warm ups/cool downs and some audio coached runs. For those travelling, you can pickup your package the morning of the event from 9:00-9:40am.
NOTE: An adult must accompany kids 12 years of age and under to the race site and must remain on site during the race.

Ellis Timing is manually timing our race. All participants will receive an official time. Results will be printed on-site and will be available here.
If you placed in the top three in your category but could not pick up your award, please email wainrunners@gmail.com to arrange pick-up. We will get your award to you.
| If you are lucky enough to be one of the top three runners in your category you will win hand made ceramic mug.

Fruit, muffins and bagels will be available to all participants. Refreshments will available for those who bring their own cup or bottle.

Wainwright Runners reserves the right to cancel the race based on: (1) Extreme weather during the event, (2) Unforeseen circumstances that make directing the race impossible. In the case of cancellation, race entries will not be refunded. In the event of healthcare restrictions that prohibit gathering at the time of the race, the race will be switched to a virtual event.
