The Longest Night Run is a community vigil where we come together to remember those lost and to honor those struggling through difficult seasons in life.
Sunday, December 21st is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. In southern Manitoba that means 16 hours of darkness, from sunset to sunrise on the 22nd. On this night we will run (or walk, or trike, etc) through the darkness together, rather than sitting through it alone. Though we experience darkness, on this night, we come together to remember we are a light for each other.
This event began as a symbolic gesture to support a friend in the midst of a battle with cancer. In its eightth year, 2025, we continued to run or walk to support those who are experiencing a difficult season, with proceeds supporting Southeast Cancer Support Services.
