My Story…
Over the years, I have watched people come together in amazing ways to support The Patron family. Since running my first marathon with the CFF in 2018, we have raised well over $75,000 and have been able to see the direct impact that this organization and its supporters have. Whether hopeful discoveries, access to care, or FDA approval of life changing gene therapies - the CFF has used fundraising efforts to change the lives of those living with Cystic Fibrosis.
In 2019 we lost Tyler to complications of his disease. I feel so grateful for our childhood and the 28 years we spent on this earth together. I am also grateful to have witnessed Tyler advocate for himself, his brother Zach, his cousin Eli, and for the scientific developments that would become crucial to those living with CF.
Zach and Eli have been able to see directly what a positive impact discoveries like this make as they qualified for Trikafta in 2019; however, there is still a large percentage of individuals who require additional gene therapy or are challenged with antibiotic resistance, transplantation, and comorbid disease.
Our work here is not done. I am thrilled to be running another Falmouth Road Race, for not only the CF Foundation, but for Zach, Eli, Cheri and Matthew and their incredible family, and in memory of Tyler.
