Why I'm running in support of AAFA New England

Hi, I’m Megan Brown, and this August, I’ll be running the Falmouth Road Race in honor of my beloved husband, Michael (Brownie) Brown.
Mike passed away tragically after being stung by a wasp in October 2023. He had no prior history of allergies. No warning signs. He was healthy, happy, and full of life - an amazing dad of two boys, Miles and Calvin, and a loving husband. In moments like that, the difference between life and death can often come down to access to life-saving tools—like epinephrine (EpiPens)—and the education to recognize the signs and act quickly.
That’s why I’ve joined the AAFA New England Falmouth Road Race Team. Their work advocating for better education, access, and awareness around asthma and allergic reactions is essential. It’s personal to me, but it’s also a message that applies to everyone: this could happen to anyone. The more we share, the more we can equip people, families, schools, and communities to be prepared—and ultimately, to save lives.
Running 7 miles isn’t easy for me. Grief is not easy. But every step I take in this race is about honoring Brownie and making sure others don’t have to face the same tragedy.
I’m running to raise funds, raise awareness, and hopefully, raise a little hope.
Your support, whether through a donation or sharing my story, means the world to me. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you so much for being part of this journey with me.
