Hello! My name is Benjamin Rich, and this year, I’ll be running in the Falmouth Road Race alongside my father, Jason. This race means more to me than just a competition, it symbolizes my journey and how far I’ve come.
When I was in third grade, I experienced a serious skiing accident that changed my life. I suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and spent a month in the hospital. While I don’t remember everything from that time, I vividly recall the challenges I faced—not only physically, but emotionally as well. I had to relearn many basic skills and rebuild my confidence. Thankfully, my family was able to stay close to me in the RMHC family room. Even though my brother couldn’t visit me in the PICU, we enjoyed time together in the family room, where there were lots of games to play, snacks, and even a piano!
Recovery has been a long and challenging journey, but I received incredible support from my family, friends, and doctors. Now, years later, I am proud to say that I am strong, healthy, and ready to embrace new challenges, like this race.
Training for the Falmouth Road Race is my way of demonstrating how far I’ve come since my accident. Each step serves as a reminder that I didn’t give up, even when times were scary and uncertain. I’m running not just for myself, but for anyone who has faced difficulties and persevered.
I’m also running to support a meaningful cause, RMHC, and every donation makes a significant impact. If you are able, I would be incredibly grateful for your support in my fundraising efforts.

As the excitement builds for the upcoming Falmouth Road Race I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your support of a cause that truly matters – supporting families in need through Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England.
With every stride we take, we are not just covering miles, we are helping provide a home away from home. On August 17, 2025 Team RMHCNE will hit the pavement to race the historic 7 mile course, while raising critical funds to support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence and the Ronald McDonald House at Boston Harbor.
Each year hundreds of families travel to New England from locations all over the world to give their child access to the best medical care. In doing so, they face enormous hurdles such as navigating the complexities of the health care system, extraordinarily high local housing costs, and excessive emotional and physical stress. At the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England, we remove the stress of daily living and support families to enable them to focus on what really matters: their child’s health and healing.
This year Team RMHCNE will work together to provide over 1,000 nights of housing, comfort and support for families of critically ill children. Together, we can reduce the stress associated with financial strain so families can focus on the health of their children.
