Help Karen raise money

My mom, Nancy Swift, was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 41. For five years, she battled the disease with incredible courage, strength, and grace before passing away at 46. At the time, in 1998, my sister Laura was only 16, and I was 20. Her loss changed our lives forever—and it’s a pain I hope fewer families will have to endure in the future.

Before she passed, my mom was deeply involved with the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC). While many organizations focus on treatment, MBCC is committed to prevention—working to eliminate the environmental causes of breast cancer through education, research advocacy, and public policy change. Their mission speaks directly to my heart and to the legacy my mom left behind.

For my family, prevention isn’t just a word—it’s personal. That’s why I’m proud to support MBCC and continue the work my mom cared so deeply about.

Last year, I ran and completed the Falmouth Road Race for the first time. It was a powerful and emotional experience—one I took on alone. This year is even more meaningful. I’ll be running alongside my 25-year-old son, Kyle Swift, and my 78-year-old dad, Gerry Swift. Three generations, united in purpose, crossing the finish line together in honor of Kyle’s Nana, my mom, and my dad’s beloved wife.
