My Story…
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! We are lacing up for one more Falmouth Road Race, this year running for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
As many of you reading this know, our son Jameson (now 18), has battled chronic health issues since a very young age. Participating in the Falmouth Road Race for a decade, while raising awareness & funds for the Sturge Weber Foundation with an amazing team, gave us a great sense of purpose. In 2019 we ran our final race for the Sturge Weber Foundation, this time as a family, and three short months later we would almost lose Jameson to a near fatal case of the flu/pneumonia. And just a few months after that, COVID-19 would shut down the world as a global pandemic.
After a very long recovery, almost two years out of school, and a new long-term diagnosis of chronic lung disease to manage, Jameson was granted a wish of a family trip to Hawaii in May 2024. It was truly an amazing experience for our family from attending a luau, learning to surf in the Pacific Ocean, swimming with a dolphin and more.
We knew we would want to pay it forward so that another family could experience a wish trip like this....so here we are! We decided to combine our love of running for a good cause (though a tad harder as we age), with our love of the Falmouth Road Race, to intentionally raise the amount it typically costs for a family trip to Hawaii through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
We would be grateful for your support through a donation to this amazing organization. Let's get another family to Hawaii for the trip of a lifetime!
With gratitude,
The Melo Family
