My Story…

Help Me Survive 7 Miles for an Amazing Cause! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨

Hey friends, family, and anyone who's ever seen me "run" (air quotes very much intentional),

I'm back for another year of voluntary torture – I mean, Falmouth Road Race! And yes, before you ask, I'm still very much NOT a runner. I'm more of a "enthusiastic shuffler" or "determined plodder." But here's the thing: sometimes you do crazy stuff for causes you care about.

Why I'm Putting Myself Through This Again

I'm running (using that term loosely) to raise money for The Lead Out Foundation, an incredible organization that makes life easier for individuals and families affected by disabilities who face mobility and accessibility challenges. They provide Quality of Life grants to families in need and work on advocacy and awareness initiatives.

My connection to this is personal – Mary and Dan are dear friends, and their amazing son Liam was a classmate of my oldest son. When I see the incredible work they do and the difference they make in people's lives, well... suddenly 7 miles doesn't seem so bad. (Ask me again at mile 5.)

The Reality Check

Let's be honest here: I train for this race like someone who's genuinely concerned about survival. While other people are worried about their pace per mile, I'm just hoping my legs don't stage a revolt somewhere around the halfway point. But that's what makes this meaningful – I'm literally going the extra mile(s) because this matters.

How You Can Help (Without Running a Single Step!)

Here's where you come in, my wonderful, non-running friends! Any donation – whether it's the cost of a coffee, a fancy dinner, or whatever feels right to you – goes directly to helping families who need it most.

And honestly? Even if you can't donate right now, sharing this page or just sending some good vibes my way means the world. I'll take all the moral support I can get when I'm questioning my life choices around mile 4.

The Bottom Line

The Lead Out Foundation does incredible work supporting families facing mobility and accessibility challenges. I may not be fast, graceful, or particularly athletic, but I can put one foot in front of the other for 7 miles to help an organization truly make a difference.

Thanks for considering a donation, and thanks in advance for not laughing too hard when you see my finish line photos. (Actually, go ahead and laugh – just donate first!)
