My Story…
Twenty years ago, we lost our father and grandfather, Gerald Shay, to cancer at the young age of 69. He fought hard, living for two and a half years after his diagnosis, thanks to the incredible care he received at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. The team there provided not only groundbreaking treatment but also compassion and hope during a challenging time. It was during those two years that Gerald had the joy of meeting Shay, his fourth grandchild, who took the family name in his honor.
Dana-Farber’s commitment to providing the best patient care while pioneering advancements in cancer research has always been something we hold dear. Their mission to create a world without cancer aligns closely with our own family’s journey, and their efforts gave our father more time with us—moments we will forever be grateful for.
This year, Shay and I are coming together to run the Falmouth Road Race with the Ryan Richards Foundation team. Our goal is to raise funds to support Dana-Farber and its vital work in cancer treatment and research. Every dollar raised helps them continue their mission to provide hope and healing to families facing cancer, just as they did for ours.
Please consider donating to this worthy cause, and thank you for helping make a difference in the fight against cancer.
