My Story…
Welcome to my page!
This year I am running alongside my sisters and the Heart Warrior Foundation team to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Disease.
In August 2024, we welcomed our beautiful baby boy, John, into the world. On the day of discharge we were told he had a hole in his heart. At the time, we were told there could be about a 50/50 chance between the hole closing on its own and heart surgery. As brand new parents, we were incredibly overwhelmed. That feeling only grew bigger at the next appointment when we found out that his specific type of CHD would not close on its own. We spent months going back and forth between his pediatrician and the amazing care team at Boston Children’s Hospital. In February of this year (2025), John’s time had come for Open Heart Surgery. On February 21st, we handed our little 6.5 month baby boy over to a surgery team in Boston and waited what seemed to be a lifetime for the good news that he absolutely rocked surgery. Words can’t describe seeing your child lay there in a massive bed with tubes and wires coming out of everywhere, with a zipper running down his chest. We spent a few sleepless day and nights by his side in the hospital and he was nothing short of amazing. Our kiddo was laughing a day later and taking his medications and recovery like a champ. We were so incredibly grateful that his surgery and recovery were a success. We couldn’t have done it without the support of his care team, our family and friends and this community.
I am thrilled to be participating with the Heart Warrior Foundation to raise funds and awareness for families affected by CHD. While our little guy has had a successful journey, there are so many more kids and families out there overcoming their own hurdles with CHD.
