My commitment to the Alzheimer’s Association and the Falmouth Road Race is deeply personal, rooted in the profound impact Alzheimer’s disease has had on my family. My grandmother, Marilyn Hardiman, battled Alzheimer’s until her passing in 2017. Despite the disease stealing so much, her infectious laugh remained a testament to her vibrant spirit.
The Falmouth Road Race is more than a run; it’s a journey through memories of my grandmother. I spent countless summers at her family’s home in Falmouth, on “Nana’s beach.” That house still holds her warmth and love. Running this race in her honor, in a place so tied to her memory, is my way of fighting back against Alzheimer’s, a disease that erodes identities and memories for far too many.
Every step I take in the Falmouth Road Race will honor my grandmother’s enduring laugh and stand against this devastating disease. Join me in supporting the Alzheimer’s Association to ensure her legacy fuels hope for a future without Alzheimer’s!
