Help Edward raise money

Personal and professional reasons connect me to the cause of Alzheimer’s Disease and to why I am running the 2025 Falmouth Road Race for the Alzheimer’s Association. Personally, I want to fundraise for my mother, Diane Miller Asche, who was diagnosed with and passed away from dementia in August 2021. This personal connection to the cause of the Alzheimer’s Association intersects with what I do professionally, as a professor and researcher focusing on older adults in need of long-term services and supports. The urgency to better support older adults with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementia and their families became even more evident during the COVID-19 pandemic which exacerbated already high levels of social isolation in this population. The bottom line is we must do better, learning from the pandemic experience to improve the lives of people like my mother and the families who love them. The Alzheimer’s Association is at the vanguard of trying to make this happen. Participating in Falmouth builds on my experiencing running the Boston, Chicago, New York City, London, and Berlin Marathons in support of this important cause. It is extremely meaningful to honor my mother by fundraising in her name to do my small part in helping the Alzheimer’s Association ensure that it has the resources necessary for its critical work.
