Team sports and physical activity have had such a profound impact on my life, and continue to be an important outlet for me week in and week out. 

I met many of my best friends, either from growing up or in college, through playing sports. Win or lose, we had a great time together and the bonds we developed remain strong years later. We often use sports as a way to stay in touch, whether through our undying fandom for a shared team or the friendly competition of a fantasy league. And through sports, I developed a lot of characteristics that I value to this day: perseverance, hard work, and teamwork. 

That’s why I was so compelled to run the Falmouth Road Race with the Good Sports Team to help kids around the country experience all of the positive impacts that sports can bring.

Good Sports provides donated and discounted equipment, apparel and footwear – all brand new - to organizations, teams and leagues in all 50 states. By taking on the cost barrier out of sports participation, Good Sports enables children from low-income homes to play sports and organizations to lower participation costs, add new teams, and re-allocate spending towards tutoring, transportation, additional staff and more. 

Children who play sports are more likely to have higher self-esteem, less likely to be obese, have 40% higher test scores, and are 15% more likely to attend college.
