About us
I'm honored to be running the Falmouth Road Race a second time to raise funds for KeepSmilin4Abbie. As I did last year, as I run this race I will think about Abbie, and her lovely family who lost her to anaphylaxis. Despite their tremendous loss, they channeled their grief into a powerful initiative to drive advancement in analphylaxis early detection research, education and awareness.
As I run, I will also think about my three sons and my nephew, who have managed multiple anaphylactic food allergies their entire lives. In our home, our boys learn to recognize the signs of anaphylaxis as they learn their ABC's. Saying "Can you check with my parents if this is safe for me to eat?" is part of their daily script until they are able to identify and ask pointed questions about food ingredients. As they grow, they learn to be their own food allergy advocates and are able to self-administer epinephrine... a drug that unfortunately, has had to be administered on them several times.
I'd appreciate your support of KeepSmilin4Abbie by donating to my run. This organization's efforts are in support of everyone who is at risk for suffering from anaphylaxis, including the 1 in 13 U.S. children with food allergies - like my children.
Thank you advance for your support and for cheering me on in August!
