Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP) is the first nonprofit pediatric private practice in Massachusetts.
I’m running the Falmouth Road Race to support Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP) — a nonprofit that’s redefining what pediatric care should look like: equitable, compassionate, and community-based. But they do so much more than physical health. BCP supports families with mental health services, legal advocacy, nutrition, education support, and more — all under one roof.
In today’s political climate, where access to inclusive healthcare is increasingly under threat, BCP is doing the essential work of building a better, fairer system from the ground up.
This mission is also personal to me. Dr. Robyn Riseberg, the founder of BCP, has been an incredible mentor and role model to my daughter, Abbie, who is about to begin her first year of nursing school to become a nurse practitioner. Her influence has helped shape Abbie's path and commitment to care, and I’m endlessly grateful for that.
I’m running to support Robyn’s vision and BCP’s mission — and to help make sure every child in Boston gets the care they deserve.
If you can, please consider donating to my fundraiser. Every contribution makes a real impact. Thank you for your support and encouragement!
Description
BCP provides patients with access to comprehensive, relationship-driven pediatric primary care. There is a BCP medical provider on call 24 hours/day, seven days a week. BCP’s appointment times are longer than standard; a typical visit at BCP includes at least 45-60 minutes with an experienced, well-trained physician. Patients and families may also meet with a mental health clinician, a care navigator, or a family partner, who then spends another 60 minutes of individualized time with them. BCP providers are culturally diverse and culturally sensitive, and many staff identify as bilingual and bicultural. By leaning into the relational aspect of medicine, BCP providers are able to meet patient families where they are and create customized treatment plans. Recognizing that they are not experts in the lives of patients or their families, BCP providers partner with patient families, working together to shift health outcomes for Black and Latinx children and youth with low-income.
This is a critical time for BCP - the challenges facing healthcare and BCP families are more significant with ongoing policy shifts and daily uncertainty. Access to quality pediatric care is and will become increasingly more difficult for many families due to federal funding cuts and attacks on Medicaid. Just last week, one of our grants abruptly ended. By running for BCP in the Falmouth Road Race, I am helping to ensure that vital programs and services continue to reach those in need, regardless of these external challenges. Your donations will directly contribute to strengthening BCP’s ability to provide the highest quality integrated primary care, behavioral health care, and care navigation and wellness services to all children—especially at a time when it’s essential to protect and advocate for them most.
Join me by donating to Team BCP for the 53rd annual Falmouth Road Race to help secure all BCP has achieved and to continue setting a new standard for how pediatric care should be delivered to all children.
