Help Annie raise money

For participating in The 2025 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP) is the first nonprofit pediatric private practice in Massachusetts.

I am once again running the 2025 Falmouth Road Race (my 6th!). While I typically run on behalf of MSPCA Angell, this year I have decided to run for the Peter Baer Schneidman Camp Fund and Boston Community Pediatrics, in honor of my beloved brother Peter who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on May 24th, 2025.

Peter’s heart always belonged to summer camp. He spent over 30 years at his beloved camp in Raquette Lake, New York - as a camper, counselor, and ultimately as Director of Operations for nearly two decades. It was his home away from home, a place where he found joy, purpose, and lifelong friendships.

To honor Peter’s memory in the most meaningful way, the Peter Baer Schneidman Camp Fund has been established at Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP), which will give children the opportunity to have their own summer camp experiences and experience the same magic Pete enjoyed for many years—especially children who otherwise would not have access to this opportunity.

By helping send children to camp, you and the children who get to have their first summer camp experiences will carry Pete’s spirit forward in the most special way.

My fundraising goal this year is lofty, but this is the only way I know how to process my grief and sadness and to honor Peter's memory and continue his beautiful legacy, so please consider donating to this incredible cause.

Description

BCP provides patients with access to comprehensive, relationship-driven pediatric primary care. There is a BCP medical provider on call 24 hours/day, seven days a week. BCP’s appointment times are longer than standard; a typical visit at BCP includes at least 45-60 minutes with an experienced, well-trained physician. Patients and families may also meet with a mental health clinician, a care navigator, or a family partner, who then spends another 60 minutes of individualized time with them. BCP providers are culturally diverse and culturally sensitive, and many staff identify as bilingual and bicultural. By leaning into the relational aspect of medicine, BCP providers are able to meet patient families where they are and create customized treatment plans. Recognizing that they are not experts in the lives of patients or their families, BCP providers partner with patient families, working together to shift health outcomes for Black and Latinx children and youth with low-income.

This is a critical time for BCP - the challenges facing healthcare and BCP families are more significant with ongoing policy shifts and daily uncertainty. Access to quality pediatric care is and will become increasingly more difficult for many families due to federal funding cuts and attacks on Medicaid. Just last week, one of our grants abruptly ended. By running for BCP in the Falmouth Road Race, I am helping to ensure that vital programs and services continue to reach those in need, regardless of these external challenges. Your donations will directly contribute to strengthening BCP’s ability to provide the highest quality integrated primary care, behavioral health care, and care navigation and wellness services to all children—especially at a time when it’s essential to protect and advocate for them most.

Join me by donating to Team BCP for the 53rd annual Falmouth Road Race to help secure all BCP has achieved and to continue setting a new standard for how pediatric care should be delivered to all children.
