My Story…
This August will mark my 10th year raising money to honor my father who lost his battle with brain cancer in April 2015, and I’m running with a new charity! Newton Athletes Unlimited.
This charity is meaningful to me as I used to volunteer for events run by this program back in high school! I will also be joining the team with my best friend Sheila Concannon Butze and her family who have been supporting this organization for many years.
There are many of you on this email distribution who have donated for multiple years. I am forever grateful to have people like you in my life willing to contribute year after year to this wonderful cause. I cannot thank you enough.
I continue to use my dad as motivation to raise money and run this race. He was a big proponent of physical education and activity. My dad was taken from us too early at the age of 67. He was a caring physician who devoted his career to the aging population as Chief of the Geriatric Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to four children, and nine grandchildren who are featured in this year’s picture below. Dad was an exceptional athlete and was known best for his talents in golf, hockey, and tennis. He could also throw a mean whiffle ball pitch. My parents owned a home in East Falmouth up to the mid-90s, so I grew up watching this race end in Falmouth Heights.
