For participating in The 2025 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP) is the first nonprofit pediatric private practice in Massachusetts.

Dear Friends and Family,

For the first time EVER I am running the 53rd annual Falmouth Road Race on August 17th on behalf of Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP). This will be the longest distance I have ever run and I said yes to running Falmouth because BCP and its work are so critical in this moment, it makes training to run this course in the August heat is worth it. Simply put, I support BCP because I believe all children deserve the highest quality health care, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.

Please join me in supporting this critical organization!

BCP, the first nonprofit pediatric private practice in Massachusetts, is bringing income and racial equity to pediatric healthcare by providing all families, but particularly those with low-income, with comprehensive, high-quality, culturally competent care that puts the patient at the forefront of its delivery model, regardless of insurance coverage or ability to pay.

Since opening its doors in November of 2020, with 150 patients and 12 staff members, BCP’s physical footprint has doubled; the organization now has a team of 22 serving over 1,700 patients annually, and it expects to continue growing. The majority of BCP’s pediatric patients are BIPOC, have low-income, and come primarily from the neighborhoods of the South End, Roxbury, and Dorchester. Nearly half belong to single-parent households, over 40% are food insecure, and many live below the Federal Poverty Level.

This is a critical time for BCP - the challenges facing healthcare and BCP families are more significant with ongoing policy shifts and daily uncertainty. Access to quality pediatric care is and will become increasingly more difficult for many families due to federal funding cuts and attacks on Medicaid. Just last week, one of our grants abruptly ended.  By supporting my run on Team BCP in the Falmouth Road Race, you help ensure that vital programs and services continue to reach those in need, regardless of these external challenges. Your gift will directly contribute to strengthening BCP’s ability to provide the highest quality integrated primary care, behavioral health care, and care navigation & wellness services to all children—especially at a time when it’s essential to protect and advocate for them most.

You can help change the way healthcare is delivered to all children by donating to my page here today!

You can also donate by mailing a check to BCP’s office at 527 Albany Street, Boston, MA 02118 (Please write “FRR -Rebecca Tarantino" on the memo lineor by Donor Advised Fund.

Thank you for supporting my run and joining BCP’s movement to bring equity to pediatric healthcare!

XO,

Rebecca

Description

BCP provides patients with access to comprehensive, relationship-driven pediatric primary care. There is a BCP medical provider on call 24 hours/day, seven days a week. BCP’s appointment times are longer than standard; a typical visit at BCP includes at least 45-60 minutes with an experienced, well-trained physician. Patients and families may also meet with a mental health clinician, a care navigator, or a family partner, who then spends another 60 minutes of individualized time with them. BCP providers are culturally diverse and culturally sensitive, and many staff identify as bilingual and bicultural. By leaning into the relational aspect of medicine, BCP providers are able to meet patient families where they are and create customized treatment plans. Recognizing that they are not experts in the lives of patients or their families, BCP providers partner with patient families, working together to shift health outcomes for Black and Latinx children and youth with low-income.

By running for BCP in the Falmouth Road Race, I am helping to ensure that vital programs and services continue to reach those in need, regardless of these external challenges. Your donations will directly contribute to strengthening BCP’s ability to provide the highest quality integrated primary care, behavioral health care, and care navigation and wellness services to all children—especially at a time when it’s essential to protect and advocate for them most.

Join me by donating to Team BCP for the 53rd annual Falmouth Road Race to help secure all BCP has achieved and to continue setting a new standard for how pediatric care should be delivered to all children.
