My Story…
This year, I’m excited to be running the Falmouth Road Race for the very first time! I have so many great memories of being in Falmouth and cheering on my family when I was younger, and now I'm excited to be on the other side of the finish line.
I’m running in memory of my mom, Kristin Waryas, who passed away in 2021 during my freshman year of college. She was truly the most amazing woman and her love was felt by everyone around her. Her example continues to guide me every day, especially after just graduating and started this new chapter of life.
I’m honored to be running on behalf of Empower, a nonprofit organization that supports kids and young adults who have lost a parent. I was lucky enough to intern with Empower and I’ve seen firsthand how meaningful their work is. They provide community, resources, and hope for young people navigating the grief of losing a parent, something that’s deeply personal to me and so needed by many.
This race is a tribute to my mom, and a chance to give back to an organization that means so much to me. If you’re able, I’d be so grateful for your support; whether that’s through a donation, sharing this page, or cheering me on!

Join me in supporting Empower by helping me raise money as I take on the 2025 Falmouth Road Race!
Empower is an international nonprofit with a very specific mission — to empower, support, and connect children and young adults (up through age 24) who have experienced the loss of a parent. Empower provides events that remind children they are not alone in their grief, and a unique one-on-one mentor program with positive role models from the community who help teach, “loss is survivable.”
Cara was nine years old when her mother Kit died of breast cancer and formed Empower as a grassroots movement out of the gratitude she had for all the layers of support her family received growing up. Empower operates with a lean staff and thousands of volunteers from across the globe and all programs remain at no charge to the family.
