My Story…
Thank you for taking the time to consider donating to my charity team. As many of you know, I recently lost my brother Bryan to depression. The two months before his passing he had made a goal to do a 5K road race. When I would check in with him about how it was going, he would tell me about how he was making progress with his pace and number of steps. He would also tell me about how his body was sore, but he was keeping with it. I miss him dearly and wish I had seen any sign that could have prevented it.
Bryan was my bigger brother, and I looked up to him growing up and following him in sports both hockey and baseball. I have many fond memories of us playing wiffle ball in our backyard together with one of us hitting a homerun over the fence and having to jump our neighbor's fence and hope we didn't touch the poison ivy. He got me involved in hockey and we got to play on many teams together. He went on to play in Major League Roller Hockey, Team Mission, and countless other tournament teams. He was an amazing dad of four and had just started his first season of coaching both of his son's ice hockey teams.
I want to complete this race in his honor and raise money for Blue Star Families who help veterans with depression and other disorders by making people aware of ways to get help and to help prevent suicide. They also help military families with numerous other programs.
I personally have been in the US Navy for over 18 years starting out as an E-1 radioman working on Submarines and promoted to Chief Petty Officer. I served two tours on the USS NEW MEXICO and one tour on the USS CONSTITUTION, before being selected for the Medical Enlisted Commissioning Program to become a Navy Nurse Corps Commissioned Officer. I commissioned in 2020 and have completed one tour at Alexander Thomas Augusta Military Medical Center and now am a Lieutenant serving as a Navy Medical Recruiter for Navy Talent Acquistion Group, New England.
Any donation is extremely appreciated and 100% goes to Blue Star Families to provide support for all the amazing programs they offer. Please say a prayer for me that I run like the wind to honor my brother.
