Join us on Saturday, February 15th, 2025 at Kouchibouguac National Park during the Family Day Long Weekend for a Snow Dog Special you won't want to miss!
Harness Dog Sports encompass a wide variety of sports, but all centre on one thing: the bond with your dog. Winter sports include: snowshoeing, fatbikejoring, kicksledding, dog sledding, and skijoring.
For those of you with little or no experience, we'll start the afternoon off with an introduction to harness dog sports class where you and your dog can learn all the basics on the ground. Please bring snowshoes, a flat collar and a leash. All other gear will be provided. PLEASE NOTE: Registration is required for this class as we only have so much gear to loan out!
The intro class will be followed by winter harness dog sports demos from experienced Moncton Dog Runners members. Demos are open to all who wish to watch (no registration required!).
For those of you who are members of the Maritime Association of Harness Dog Sports, you'll have open access to the groomed trail for skijoring and kicksledding following the completion of the demos. PLEASE NOTE: With well-groomed skijor and sled trails in short supply, this trail will NOT be open for fatbiking or snowshoeing (with or without a dog) in order to preserve the trail for safe skijor and sled practice. Fatbikejoring IS allowed on the multipurpose trail on the opposite side of the park. Snowshoe canihiking IS allowed on all single track trails within the park.
