Jess and I are proud to be participating in the HEARTest Yard + Showmars 5K to support The HEARTest Yard—a program that provides free, in-home nursing care to children with congenital heart defects after surgery.

This incredible initiative eases the transition from hospital to home by offering hands-on support when families need it most. From the moment a child comes home from surgery to the ongoing care between procedures, The HEARTest Yard helps families navigate each step with compassion and expertise.

This cause is deeply personal to us. Our daughter, Jordan, was born with a ventricular septal defect (VSD)—a condition that changed our world in an instant. Through it all, we were surrounded by an extraordinary team of doctors, surgeons, and nurses whose skill, kindness, and dedication carried us through some of our most difficult days. Their care gave us hope, and their commitment gave Jordan the best possible start on her journey.

Now, we want to give back.

By running in this 5K, we’re raising awareness and funds for families like ours—families adjusting to a new normal, managing complex care at home, and doing everything they can to give their children a healthy future.
