Our story…

This year, Team KGMS is running in the BMO Vancouver Marathon – Run4Hope Charity Challenge to support our incredible students at Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School in North Vancouver.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 to renovate the Raven Room, home to our Grades 7 and 8 students. This space plays a key role in helping our middle school learners build independence, confidence, and leadership skills as they prepare for high school. The renovation will include flexible seating, sensory-friendly lighting, and adaptive furniture — creating a calming, inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Every step, every dollar, and every act of support brings us closer to building a better classroom for our students.

Description

KGMS is a non-profit organization, located in North Vancouver that supports K-12 students with complex learning differences such as autism, anxiety, ADHD and dyslexia. Our mission is to empower diverse thinkers, build confidence and capability and help our students realize their dreams.

Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School is proud to announce its enthusiastic participation in the BMO RUN4HOPE event, a charitable run aimed at making a positive impact in the community. This year, our school community is running with a purpose - to raise funds in support of children with learning differences. We believe in the power of education and inclusivity, and by joining this event, we aim to create a brighter future for children who face unique learning challenges. Together, we are not only running for a healthier lifestyle but also running to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Join us in our journey to empower these young minds and provide them with the opportunities they deserve. Together, we can make a real change.

Our Registered Charity Number is 11925-4555-RR0001.

Our specialized program offers students:

  • Small academic classes with personalized instruction

  • Daily one-on-one Orton-Gillingham tutoring

  • A focus on hands-on learning, and social-emotional support.

By donating to Team KGMS, you are:

  • Supporting a healthier family life: KGMS assists and eases the heartache and stress that school struggles bring home. We provide in-school OG tutoring and the support and guidance that many families must seek outside of a traditional school environment.

  • Supporting the value of education, inclusion and fairness: your donation will provide equitable access for children who learn differently. By donating, you help us continue to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for our K-12 students.

  • Honouring the KGMS teachers, tutors, counsellors and support staff who have made a difference in a child's life, and for the essential work they do every day. You are helping a child understand that they are capable and deserving of a bright future.

A child needs to be taught in the way they learn best, and with your help, we can continue to set up all children who have learning challenges with a bright future.
