Countdown to event
The Great Ski Race®
Supporting Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue, March 1, 2026

The Great Ski Race will once again offer 2 different course options, the regular 26km route (starting at 9am) and a new 10km route (starting at 9:25am) . Both routes start and end at the Tahoe Cross Country Center in Tahoe City, CA.
The 26km route promises a fun and challenging day on snow, with great vistas of north Lake Tahoe while skiing around Mt. Watson. The 10km route stays low on the undulating trails of the nordic center. Both course's have lots of varied terrain, not to mention the usual challenges our skiers sign up for.
Both the 10km and 26km races are followed by a finish line party celebration with food and live music.
Nwe this year! The Tour Wave: For those looking to ski The Great Ski Race course but at their own, leisurely pace. This wave will not be timed and have no posted online race results. To ski in this wave, you must self-start at TXC between 7:30am and 7:45am (no sooner, no later). Designed for those looking to enjoy the course, the finish line party and festive atmosphere of the GSR but not interested in securing a podium finish. Note that all Tour Wave skiers are expected to know the course and yield to upcoming racers behind them. Limited to the first 35 participants to sign up – if you wish to ski in this event be sure to sign up for the 26km The Tour Wave!
Registration fees will increase up to race day, so register early! The race fees are the same for either race and are as follows:

The Great Ski Race® is the main fund raising event for the Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue Team, a non-profit all-volunteer organization. Team members, along with community supporters, organize The Great Ski Race®, which continues to be one of the largest Nordic ski races west of the Mississippi. Race proceeds are used primarily to purchase equipment for the Team, and to support winter survival and avalanche education programs sponsored and conducted by the Team.
Please note that this is a fundraiser for the non-profit TNSAR, and so refunds are not possible.
See you Sunday, March 1!
