My Story…
I care deeply about understanding the potential impact behind fundraising efforts including where the money could go, who it may help, and how it can truly change someone’s day. I want to use the last 13 days leading up to the half marathon (symbolizing 13.1 miles!) to shine a light on music therapy.
Music therapy is a clinical, evidence‑based practice that helps kids in the hospital manage pain, ease fear, express emotions they can’t yet speak, and feel even a moment of joy in a place that can feel overwhelming.
To honor the final stretch of training, I’ll be sharing one song per day - songs that have carried me through long runs or that I recommend for your next run.
Alongside this, I’m hoping to raise $1,000 in 13 days which is enough to help fund multiple music therapy sessions that give kids comfort, connection, and a way to cope on their hardest days.

As part of Team Children's, my participation in the 2026 Pittsburgh Marathon supports UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation.
Funds support the patients and families served by UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Last year UPMC Children's Hospital had over 1 million patient visits and many of the programs, initiatives, and resources that make UPMC Children’s so special are funded by philanthropic gifts. Things like distraction therapy which provides patients something else to focus on during their medical procedures, the Child Life Department which provides many activities to create a sense of normalcy for hospitalized children, and the Free Care Fund which covers the cost of medical care for those that cannot afford it. These areas are not covered by insurance, yet are critically important to helping families face the many challenges that accompany a child’s treatment.
