Hi, friends and family! After 12 years, I’m running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon again — and this time I’m raising money for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. 👟👟

Why this cause matters to me: If you know me, you know how much I love food. I’m happiest planning a dinner party, trying a new recipe, sharing eggs from my backyard hens or tending to my garden. Food is comfort. Food is community. But right here in Pittsburgh, too many of our neighbors face food insecurity.

Throughout my training, I’m also volunteering once a month at the Dormont Free Pantry, one of more than 1,000 local partners that distribute donations from the Food Bank. I’m seeing firsthand how much your financial support matters. (It's also great cross-training. Have you ever lifted a 50-pound bag of carrots!?)

Where your donation will go: The Food Bank is incredibly efficient! Every $1 donated can provide up to 3 nutritious meals. And it’s not just canned goods: The Food Bank regularly distributes fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, dairy and eggs — as well as toiletries, cleaning supplies and other non-food household items.

Your donations keep me motivated on my long training runs. But more importantly, you’ll help connect our Pittsburgh neighbors with healthy food they need now while also addressing the root causes of food insecurity in the long term. Thanks so much for your support!

Description

With your support, we can ensure that none of our neighbors go to bed hungry. For every $1 donated, the Food Bank can provide up to 3 nutritious meals for our neighbors in need. Every dollar brings us one step closer to a hunger-free community! Thank you in advance for your support.
