My Story…
The Homeless Children’s Education Fund (HCEF) is the only nonprofit in the Pittsburgh region dedicated to help students facing homelessness through education. HCEF provides students with long-term support, from early education all the way to the workforce. Reinforcing that education is a civil right, they use data to leverage stakeholders for long lasting systematic change. HCEF helps to prove that homelessness can be a temporary condition, and is not an identity. Their mission goes farther than helping students survive homelessness, but to “rise beyond it,” through accessible learning, advocacy, tutoring, career development, and support.
I chose to raise money for HCEF because education has the power to change the trajectory of someone’s life, and no child or person should be denied that opportunity. Their commitment to systematic and long-term change makes their impact sustainable and more meaningful. Please consider supporting the non-profit by donating to my fundraiser!
