My Story…
My name is Steven Espinal Mesa and I am running the Pittsburgh marathon for the first time. I decided to commemorate this special milestone in my running journey by running for something bigger than myself. If you know me personally then you might know that my grandma, my mom’s mom, had dementia. She passed away in 2021, but she was taken from us long before she passed due to this disease that slowly took her memories and ability to communicate. The way the disease progressed is something I will never forget. For this reason, I hope to be able to support the work of the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Pennsylvania Chapter and inspire others to do the same. I hope you contribute to this cause as a way to support me and I hope I make her proud when I finish this marathon on May 3rd, 2026.
