My Story…

I’m incredibly honored to be running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon this year in memory of my Uncle Wes.

ALS is not just a disease I’ve studied in nursing school—it’s something that has deeply impacted my life and my family. My uncle was someone I looked up to in so many ways, and losing him to ALS was devastating. He was strong, kind, hilarious, and someone who meant the world to all of us. His children, Nate and Aidan, are not only my cousins, but my best friends, which makes this cause even more personal.

It’s a true privilege to be able to train, to move, and to run—especially knowing that ALS strips people of the very ability to walk, to move, and to live independently. Every mile I run is something my uncle, and so many others, were robbed of far too soon. I don’t take a single step for granted.

I’m running not just for the miles, but for my uncle, for my family, and for every person and family affected by ALS. I’m running in support of research, care, and hope for a future without this disease.

If you’re able to donate, share, or support in any way, it would truly mean so much to me. Thank you for helping me honor my Uncle Wes and his motto: “Absolutely Living Strong (ALS).”
