My Story…
We’re doing this ride in honour of my mom, Mary Ann Oughtred. She is always participating in exciting programs through Balance for Blind Adults—including dance, fitness, improv, self-defence and most recently boxing! Her enthusiasm, independence, and willingness to try new things continue to inspire us. This ride is an opportunity to give back to a community that has given so much to her. We’re proud to support the incredible work of Balance for Blind Adults, Trailblazers, and BSAC, whose programs help individuals with vision loss stay active, connected, and engaged.
Description
On June 20, 2026, our riders will take part in the 3rd annual EyeRide, an event that’s so much more than just kilometres on a bike. It’s about strengthening community, building resilience, and making a real difference for the blind and low-vision community.
Our riders will be cycling 65 km from Toronto to Alliston or 130 km from Toronto to Collingwood, alongside both sighted and visually impaired athletes and avid riders. Together, they’ll push past limits, deepen connections, and ride with passion and purpose in support of organizations serving the vision loss community.
For members of our broader community who may not cycle but still want to take part, the EyeSpin on May 27, EyeSail on June 13 and other virtual events offer additional opportunities to participate and support the ride in a fun and exciting way while staying connected to the spirit of EyeRide.
Net funds raised through EyeRide 2026 will support three charities:
- TRAILBLAZERS Tandem Cycling Club, helping rejuvenate its aging fleet of tandem bicycles so blind and low-vision cyclists can continue riding safely and experience the physical, mental, and social benefits of cycling.
- BALANCE for Blind Adults, supporting mental health counselling, peer support, and community programs that reduce isolation and build confidence, independence, and belonging.
- Blind Sailing Association of Canada, supporting repairs and upgrades to accessible sailboats so blind and low-vision sailors can continue learning, gaining confidence, and experiencing freedom on the water.
EyeRide isn’t just about raising funds. It creates opportunities and breaks barriers for the vision loss community. Please join us in supporting this amazing cause. Every donation, no matter the size, helps create a world where everyone can thrive.
Thank you for your generosity.
Cycle. Connect. Change Lives.
