For more than two decades, the QEII Foundation has been advancing health care at the QEII by funding new technologies, medical research, innovation, and professional education that contribute to life-changing moments experienced every day by patients and their loved ones.

Support the QEII ICU Department and 3 Wishes Project 

As part of this mission, the ICU Department at the QEII Health Sciences Centre is participating in the Blue Nose Marathon to support the 3 Wishes Project. This project focuses on patients receiving advanced life support who are at their end of life in the ICU. We aim to provide compassionate family and patient-centered care, and to carry out at least 3 final wishes for dying patients. Our goal is to humanize the dying process, celebrate our patients' lives and support those left behind in grief. Examples of small tokens we provide through the 3 Wishes Project include a record of the patient's heart beat in a teddy bear, keychains with fingerprints, personalized blankets, and copies of the patient's heart rhythm tracing.
