My Story…
I run because it makes me hopeful. Doing hard things, like training for a marathon, can be overcome with small steps. Each run brings me a little closer to the starting line. Every kilometre in rain, sun, and snow is an act of faith in something larger than myself. Occasionally, on those special runs when the effort transforms into something closer to flying, I feel grateful for the simple freedom of movement.
I also run for the people I love. My son, my wife, my community and my best friend who lives with MS.
I ran my first Calgary Marathon in 2025 in support of MS Canada. I can still feel that moment when I came around the corner and saw the finish line ahead. I can hear the shouts of encouragement, feel the emotion in my chest, and the sense of connection with my fellow runners. We crossed the finish line as one, connected through our hopes and challenges.
When the distance felt overwhelming, I thought about the people I was running for. As I prepare to run for MS Canada again in 2026, I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped me reach that finish line. Together we can fly.
