My Story…
Time spent in nature is always healing. As the world continues to get busier and louder each and every day, the escape of sitting in silence, disconnecting from my phone, and truly being present in a moment has always left me feeling lighter, happier, and at peace. The United States has some of most beautiful natural landscapes and it's important that we continue to protect them. Aurora sang it best: "When the last tree has fallen and the rivers are poisoned, you cannot eat money."
Stripping the protections from this area was a huge blow, but I am hopeful in the work Save the Boundary Waters is doing and in the people who have come together to support this mission. It is never too late to take a stand. There is still much we can do to protect the land and make it as difficult as possible to mine in the area.
I am proud to be running my first marathon as a charity run for this organization. I want the Boundary Waters to be pristine for all the generations to come so that everyone who has a desire to disconnect from the stresses of life and reconnect with themselves will have the opportunity. I want to preserve the watershed so that the OVER 250 species of wildlife that call the area home will be protected. And I want to be able to take my niece here in 20 years and have it be something she can share with her family 20 years after that.
