Q&A
Q: When does 2026 race registration open and how much does it cost?
A: Registration for the August 9, 2026 Women's triathlon opens at midnight on race day August 10 2025! The starting prices is $105. Don't wait, registration costs go up and the race will fill by March or April 2026.
Q: Why is the cost going up this year?
A: It only appears to be going up. In past years our price did not include taxes and fees. It is now included in the price, no surprises.
Q: What if I register and then can't do the race?
A: We do not offer refunds, but you have several options:
- In registration you can purchase Refund Protection insurance from Race Roster.
- You'll have until June 30, 2026 to transfer your registration to another person.
- For any reason at any time you can officially withdraw from the race and receive a receipt turning your registration into a tax deductible donation.
Q: I can not afford the race fee but I really want to do this event. Are there scholarships?
A: Yes! Scholarship applications will open January 1st and be due by March 1st. Please apply!
Q: What does it mean to be a Race Champion?
A: Register at the $500 level to champion the YWCA programs of eliminating racism and empowering women as well as the Triathlon's mission of celebrating the strength of all women. As a Race Champion, you'll get the VIP race experience including training support, exclusive options for race weekend, and special hospitality features for race day.
Q: What is the difference between registering as an Individual vs Buddy Group vs a Team? What is the Elite wave?
A: Most individual racers start with their age group and are competing in their age group. A Buddy Group allows two or more people who are not the same age to start the race together and be assigned the same rack in the transition area. Family and Century Teams are competitive categories. Two people on a team have their times added together to compete against other teams. The Elite wave allows individuals regardless of age to start first. It is primarily done for safety to reduce the amount of jostling and passing.
Q: Can I change....?
A: You can change just about anything on your registration until June 30th. You can switch distances and you can edit the questions you answered yourself.
Safety rules
- Bike helmets must be on your head and clipped any time you are on your bike, even before and after the race. Failure to comply will result in immediate disqualification.
- We offer a white "novice" swim cap if you feel you may need extra lifeguard eyes or feel anxiety surrounding the swim.
- Volunteer “noodle swimmers” will be available for support. You may rest of the noodles but not make any forward motion.
- Life jackets, swim safety buoys, or any personal flotation devises are not permitted.
- Wetsuits are allowed if the water temperature is under 84 degrees Fahrenheit. Above 84 degrees wetsuits become a serious hazard for heat injury. We will take the water temperature on race morning by 7am.
- Bike drafting is not allowed. You must keep three bike lengths between you and the biker in front of you. If you are passed you must allow for three bike lengths to open up.
- No blocking. You must ride your bike as far to the right as is safe. You may not ride side by side with a friend. You must pass decisively.
- NO MUSIC. No earbuds or headphones of any kind at any point in the race. Triathlons are more complicated than running races. It’s important that it is easy to communicate with you.
- No littering or abandoning equipment. You may not discard clothing, helmets, sunglasses etc along the race course.
